Description

Large coromandel screen from the Qing dynasty.

  • A tall room screen of carved and lacquered panels depicting walled garden and palace scenes of ladies seated at mahjong tables and holding musical instruments.
  • The reverse is also lacquered, carved and decorated with flora and fauna, including chrysanthemums and cranes.
  • Bordered by scroll form qilin and resting on brass wrapped feet.
