Description

Hiroshi Sugimoto (Japanese, b. 1948).

Hiroshi Sugimoto’s series, Conceptual Forms, features a selection of black and white photographs of mathematical models, as well as mechanical machine tools. This photograph is of a plaster model created in the 1880s to provide university students with a visual understanding of complex trigonometric functions. Sugimoto was inspired by the sophisticated beauty he saw in these objects originally created for a purely functional purpose. Custom wood frame with black finish and Schott glass as specified by the artist.
